Demystifying Research

FACILITATOR: Mags Liddy (Mags works with IDEA to build a research community for the development education sector in the island of Ireland. Formerly she worked as Research Associate with the Ubuntu Network:Teacher Education Sustainable Development and has evaluated a number of development education programmes.)

AIM OF SEMINAR:
To introduce global education practitioners to a range of social science research methodologies, and to explore some of the ways in which action research and participatory action research methods can inform global education practice.

KEY QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER IN ADVANCE
• What is social research for? Where does it link with global education? Is there more potential to global education research than evaluation work?
• What are the main methods of research? Why and when would we use them?
• What are research ethics? What significance do ethics have for global education practitioners?

SEMINAR FEE:
This event is Free of charge but places are limited to 16 and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

TARGET GROUPS:
Global educators with an interest or previous experience in research; Individual and member organisations of the Centre for Global Education, Irish Development Education Association (IDEA) and Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies (CADA);  Civil Society Groups interested in research practice in the area of global education.
